Where do the currents and tides come from?
From NOAA's official predictions for each current and tide station. Where NOAA publishes a full prediction, the app shows it unchanged. Where NOAA publishes only the day's max flood, max ebb and slack times, the app estimates the speeds in between.
How accurate are the estimates?
82% of estimated readings are within 0.3 knots of NOAA's full predictions. The accuracy page shows how we tested this and where the estimates are weakest.
Can I use Ebb & Flood to navigate?
No. It is a planning tool. Predictions don't include wind, river runoff or air pressure, which can change real currents a lot. Carry a chart and compass, check conditions on the water and use your own judgment.
Does it work without cell signal?
Yes, once you download a region. Open the app on Wi-Fi before your trip and download the area you'll paddle. The map, currents and tides are then saved on your phone.
Which areas are covered?
Washington's tidal waters at launch: the San Juan Islands, Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hood Canal and Deception Pass. More coastal states will follow.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Ebb & Flood. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions. Canceling during the free trial means you won't be charged.
I got a new phone. How do I get my subscription back?
Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account, open Ebb & Flood and tap Restore purchases in Settings.
